In the run-up to the Grand Slam competition, Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur emerged as the most recent Wimbledon participants to withdraw from matches early.

In her Berlin Open quarterfinal match against Anna Kalinskaya, Sabalenka appeared to be struggling with a shoulder issue and gave up after behind 5-1.

After losing the opening set 7-6 (11-9) to Coco Gauff, the two-time Wimbledon finalist Jabeur decided to withdraw due to sickness. The women’s singles at Wimbledon begins play on July 1st with the first round.

Before Gauff, the top-seeded American, won the first set, Jabeur saved eight set points against him. After consulting with the physician, the Tunisian, who seemed to be having respiratory difficulties, decided not to begin the second set.

Aryna Sabalenka in 2024

Currently the world no.3, Sabalenka played her last match on the 22nd of June when she had to retire when playing against world no.24 Anna Kalinskaya in the quarter and the scoreline was 5-1 .

Currently, during this season the Belarussian has achieved a 30-9 record. The Belarussian clinched 1 title at the Australian Open. Sabalenka got to the final in Brisbane, Madrid and Rome.

Ons Jabeur in 2024

Currently the world no.10, Jabeur played her last match on the 22nd of June when she had to retire when playing against world no.2 Cori Gauff in the quarter and the scoreline was 7-6(9) .

At the moment, during this season Ons has managed to achieve an overall 14-12 record.

Aryna Sabalenka and Ons Jabeur clashed against each other 6 times. Their record is 4-2 for Sabalenka. Previously, the last time they played each other, Aryna Sabalenka won 7-5 6-3 in the quarter in Cincinnati (Western & Southern Open) in August 2023.
