Manchester United have turned to Hollywood and plan to cast award-winning actor Barry Keoghan in a lead role for their new kit campaign.

The Daily Mail report that the Irish star will take centre stage in the Red Devils’ promotional campaign of their 2024/25 release. The 31-year-old, who won a BAFTA for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin, will now turn his hand to United’s advertising having previously been cast in Top Boy and Saltburn.

Golden Globe nominee Keoghan is second cousin of former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Frank Stapleton, and has previously been pictured in a United tracksuit. He has also donned retro Spurs kit in the past too.

It is not the first time the Old Trafford side have made use of superstars as part of their promotional material. The club made use of supporter and rapper Stormzy when Paul Pogba transfer from Juventus was announced via a music video.

The move is a latest attempt by United to appeal to worldwide audiences. Although new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is focusing on the football side of things, it’s understood he also has a say in commercial decisions.

United’s new kit is set to be released in July and will feature a gradient of two different reds. The template is reported to be based on the Tiro 24 and will match that of Germany’s Euro 2024 away kit.

The shirt will be the first to host new sponsor Snapdragon. United’s agreement is said to be an improvement on the deal the 13-time Premier League champions had with TeamViewer and to fall closer to the terms United agreed with Chevrolet in a previous sponsorship.

A deal was announced in September and has been reported to be a three-year agreement worth more than £60million. Qualcomm Snapdragon was established in November 2007 and is known for making processors that power smartphones and PCs among other technology products.
