Racer Tennis Serves Up Season End ITA Ranking – Murray State University Athletics
With a fantastic 2023-24 season in the record book, the Murray State women’s tennis program has been recognized by the International Tennis Association (ITA) with a No. 8 ranking in the Ohio Valley Region.
The season-ending ranking comes after the Racers went undefeated (8-0) this spring to win MSU Athletics’ first championship as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. MSU was 17-6 overall and saw head coach Jorge Caetano win his 100th match in his ninth season leading the program.
The Racers’ No. 8 ranking placed the team ahead of regional rivals Memphis, Austin Peay, Belmont, Memphis and Middle Tennessee. MSU was the second-highest ranked team in Kentucky.
“This is another great accomplishment by this group and being ahead of such prestigious programs is proof that we are on the right track to accomplish even greater things,” said Caetano who was named MVC Coach of the Year. “We want to establish ourselves now as one of the top programs in the MVC and the Ohio Valley Region and then aim to become one of the Top-75 programs in the nation which has never been done in the history of our program.”
