New York, New York–(Newsfile Corp. – June 21, 2024) – New York City based agency Marketing by SJ hosted a panel on longevity at The Ned NoMad on the 14th of May. Marketing by SJ is a boutique event and marketing agency focusing on wellness, health, and lifestyle. The panel involved some of New York’s top physicians discussing what longevity means to them, including lifestyle hacks they think people can adopt in order to boost their own longevity and health. The panel was moderated by Chris Picerni; Picerni is the founder of Coast, a longevity recovery supplement that supports cellular repair and optimization.

The panel featured Dr. Poonam Desai, a leader in the health industry working with high-profile clients worldwide and founder of a longevity center, a TEDx speaker, social media educator, and consultant. The next panelist, Dr. Neil Paulvin is an innovative physician in the study of Functional Medicine, Integrative Sports Medicine, Regenerative medicine, Osteopathic Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy. The final panel member was Dr. Gerry Curatola. With over four decades of experience as a clinician, educator, researcher, and humanitarian, Dr. Curatola is a renowned figure in biologic medicine and dentistry.

Each panelist emphasized the importance of testing to be able to curate a personalized approach to optimal health. Dr Paulvin recommended testing to get a picture of their baselines. Dr. Desai gave examples and talked the audience through how her knowledge of her individual gene expression helped her optimize her day to day.

Dr. Curatola added the importance of dental scans as a testing tool to get detailed images of the bone to evaluate diseases of the jaw, dentition, bony structures of the face, nasal cavity and sinuses. Dr Curatola indicated that oral hygiene is important for overall longevity.

Dr. Desai spoke of the importance of diversity in diet, the key of whole foods and recommended people aim to consume 30 different vegetables each week, to increase the diversity for the gut’s microbiome.

Dr. Paulvin discussed brain health, and how to improve it via exercise and sleep. Dr. Desai added that exercise is not only structured time in the gym, but general movement as it’s important for physical and mental health. Dr. Paulvin suggested hyperbaric therapy for brain health; it has been shown to support brain and cognitive function.

Dr. Curatola spoke about links between brain health and dental health. Periodontal disease has been linked to an elevated risk of stroke and cognitive decline. Dr Curatola cited* studies on links between the mouth and brain, stating “bacteria in the mouth can travel to the brain and become a factor in the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.”
