New Samsung Documents Reveal Galaxy Z Fold 6 Features

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 will launch in the next few weeks, and new documents from the South Korean company shine a light on some of the key specs of the foldable.

The details come from China’s MIIT database (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology). Part of its remit is to regulate China’s internet and wireless services. As with most national regulators, a manufacturer would wait until the last moment to apply for certification partly to ensure that the hardware submitted is the final iteration but also to avoid giving too much away about an upcoming product.

Given Samsung is widely expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 alongside the Z Flip 6 on July 10th at this summer’s Galaxy Unpacked event, the appearance in the MIIT database is surely the first of many filings that Samsung will have to make in public.

Alongside the model numbers (SM-F9560 for the Fold and SM-F7410 for the Flip), digging into the filing confirms a key detail on the Z Fold 6’s capabilities; namely, it will ship with dual-SIM support over 5G.

Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 also featured dual SIM support. The US model supported one physical nano-SIM and one digital eSIM, as other markets supported two physical nano-SIMs.

Leaked specification in early June showed a similar approach to SIM support in the Z Fold 6. This would tie in with the dual-SIM listed in the MIIT filing. Given the wide support of eSIM in the US market and less support outside of North America, this does not come as a surprise.

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked is expected to launch the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 alongside new Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds products.
