A 25-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle collided with a minivan late Tuesday night in south Edmonton, the third motorcyclist death on city streets this month.

Just before 11 p.m., a 2005 Toyota Sienna was heading west on Connors Road at 90 Street as a 2009 Suzuki GSXR750 was travelling east on Connors Road “at a high rate of speed,” police said in a Wednesday news release.

Police said the motorcycle passed several vehicles before colliding with the minivan as it turned left on 90 Street.

Emergency crews arrived on scene, but the motorcyclist was dead. The minivan driver, a 42-year-old man, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers want anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage to contact them at 780-423-4567.

This is the third fatal motorcycle collision this month.

On June 13, a man died when his motorcycle was involved in a three-vehicle collision on Anthony Henday Drive. Police described the motorcycle as travelling at an “extreme rate” of speed.

On June 2 at 12:35 a.m., a 35-year-old died after a speeding motorcycle slammed into a concrete barrier at Stadium Road and 111 Avenue.
