180 new jobs open as Unither Pharmaceuticals expands in Henrietta

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Unither Pharmaceuticals is having a 43,000-foot expansion in Henrietta, creating up to 180 new jobs.

Unither Pharmaceuticals, a French-based pharmaceuticals contract and development manufacturing company, is investing $106-million to consolidate, renovate and update its facility in Henrietta.

The expansion will accommodate new equipment, expand warehouse capabilities, and update the facility’s laboratories in a more energy-efficient way.

Unither plans to demolish portions of the Jefferson Road facility to improve operational efficiencies, reduce carbon emissions, and implement other energy cost-saving measures.

In exchange for a state investment, Unither has committed to creating 180 jobs over the next five years to add to the 300 that are currently on site.

“Unither’s climate friendly upgrade of its Henrietta facility reflects the global pharmaceutical leader’s commitment to the Finger Lakes region and its alignment with Governor Hochul’s vision for a sustainable economy that protects the environment while growing New York jobs and opportunity,” Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight said.

Founded 30-years-ago, Unither maintains facilities in the United States, France, Brazil, and China, employing more than 2,300 people.
