Ultimately, the first-seeded Djokovic defeated his second-seeded opponent to win his 5th grass-court Grand Slam. However, the Swiss legend seems to remain unaffected by the defeat.

In a recent interview that featured on La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 42-year-old revealed that he was not impacted much by the loss. “Yes, obviously. In the end, I lost that match… but if I had won it nothing would have changed in my life.”

Continuing further, he said, that he garnered a lot of accolades in his career and the grass court in general. “As a kid, I dreamed of being able to play, one day, for Central Wimbledon and to win that tournament, but I didn’t expect to win it eight times and to collect so many successes around the world.” He went on to admit his love for tennis and the one-point difference that decided the match.

I feel a deep happiness and a lot of gratitude for tennis, I said ‘It’s just one point’, I was referring to a type of mental approach that is fundamental for a champion.” The tennis great lost the 5th set 13-12 in a close encounter that was poised to go either way. The tennis maestro won his last grass-court grand slam in 2017, and a total of eight on the surface. Well, this is not the first time when Roger Federer has talked about this particular defeat.

In an interview given to Numero Homme magazine, Federer resonated with similar sentiments. He admitted moving on from defeats very quickly. “Some people think for days and nights about the mistakes they made. I chose to analyze very quickly. It helps me to move on. “When I was young, I wasn’t even angry when I lost, but extremely sad. I couldn’t think straight. “Now I only need half an hour to recover from a defeat, maybe an hour if it’s the Wimbledon final.”

He gave me just kind of mental advice: Try to enjoy it and keep looking forward to working hard.”
