Hamilton police ID homicide victim as ‘innocent’ father of three

Hamilton police have identified a 37-year-old man and father of three children as the city’s latest homicide victim.

Authorities were called to a three-storey apartment building at 100 Connaught Avenue just after 1:30 p.m. on June 15 for reports of a deceased male.

An autopsy confirmed the victim’s death to be a homicide, and on Monday, the man was identified as 37-year-old Randy Peardon of Hamilton.

Acting Det-Sgt. Robert Di Ianni told reporters that Peardon was from the area but was not living at the residence where he was located.

“He was a very innocent victim,” Di Ianni said.

Investigators have not disclosed how Peardon died. There is currently no suspect information.

A police spokesperson noted that investigators continue to hold the residence pending a search warrant and that officers expect to remain there one more day.

Authorities are examining video evidence and are urging anyone with information or additional footage of the area from Melrose Avenue South to Gage Avenue along Main Street and Connaught Avenue to Dunsmure Road between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 15 to come forward.
