Dribble Dreams summer basketball camp in Milton now has girls-only sessions | insauga

A Milton summer basketball camp started by a pair of local entrepreneurs is back for a second season.

Dribble Dreams was started last year by locals youths Ismail Hassan and Saad Asim, with the mission of empowering young athletes through the love of basketball and promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth.

“We are so happy to be back this summer and have some awesome and exciting things planned for you,” said a spokesperson.

“Whether you participated last year, or are joining us for the first time, we can’t wait to see you.”

New at the free camp this year are girls-only sessions.

“Our hope is that our girls-only sessions will not only help increase the number of girls who want to learn how to play basketball but, more importantly, foster an environment where women in sport is the focus.

Registrations for this years camps opens Saturday, June 22.

The camp runs for seven consecutive Saturdays, from July 6 to Aug. 24, and is open to kids ages 6-13 who are at a beginner or intermediate basketball skill level

Included for attendees are a free camp T-shirt and snacks along with knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches. There are sessions for both girls only as well as mixed.

The camp is being held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School, 1145 Bronte St. S. To register, visit here.

If you’re interested in helping keep Dribble Dreams free for local kids, contributions can be made at their GoFundMe page.

Donations go towards things such as gym rentals, camper merchandise and snacks, and camp equipment.
