Tennis, WTA – ‘s-Hertogenbosch Open 2024: Alexandrova sees off Montgomery

Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 3 seed, reached the last 4 of the’s-Hertogenbosch Open by defeating American qualifier Robin Montgomery 6-4, 6-3 at Autotron Rosmalen on Saturday.

Alexandrova, ranked No 16, will play Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the Rosmalen tournament, the Russian won against Australian Arina Rodionova (6-3, 6-4) and American Emina Bektas (7-5, 6-4).

Montgomery, ranked No 173, edged out Pole Magda Linette, the No 8 seed (6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-5) and won against German Jule Niemeier (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.

  • Bianca Andreescu (WC) beat Naomi Osaka (WC): 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3)
  • Liudmila Samsonova beat Greet Minnen: 6-4, 7-5
  • Dalma Galfi (Q) beat Aleksandra Krunic: 7-5, 6-3
