There was a fatal fire in Picton Friday.
Prince Edward County Fire and OPP responded to a fire at the Maple Villa apartment building on South Mary Street at close to 2 p.m.
One person was taken to hospital and pronounced deceased.
The fire began in an apartment on the second floor. There was minimal exterior damage to the building.
An investigation continues by the OPP, Prince Edward County Fire Department, the Ontario Fire Marshal, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and the Office of the Chief Coroner.
A firefighter tapes off patio entrances to the building as the investigation into the fire continues.
