The Horse Racing Women’s Summit (HRWS) returns to Saratoga Springs, Ny., for an engaging and educational event to be held Tuesday, July 23 at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame (NMRHOF).
The day will begin with a morning program at the NMRHOF that includes viewing a HOF movie in the Hall of Fame room and a tour of the museum, followed by a keynote conversation with Lisa Lazarus, CEO of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA), hosted by Donna Barton Brothers, a racing analyst for NBC Sports.
“HRWS at Saratoga is a unique and exciting opportunity to join forces with women in horse racing. It’s not just about hearing from top female leaders in the sport, but also about creating new connections,” said Brothers. “This event provides women who are new to racing with the perfect opportunity to connect with one another and these inspiring women as well.”
After the keynote conversation, attendees will break for lunch before sitting down to enjoy two panel discussions focused on the topics of prioritizing the equine athlete and the importance of aftercare.
Moderated by Laura Simiele, the first panel includes Jena Antonucci, Classic-winning trainer; Tina Bond, President of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA); Dr. Jennifer Durenberger, Director of Equine Safety & Welfare for HISA; Jane McMahon, Manager of McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds.
The second panel of the day, moderated by Rachel Dunn, includes panelists Keri Brion, Multiple Graded Stakes-winning Flat and Steeplechase Trainer; Lisa Malloy, Program Director of ReRun Inc.; Jen Roytz, Co-Owner/Manager of Brownstead Farm; Kim Weir, Director of Strategic Growth at Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga.
Following a break for networking, a conversation between Jane Lyon, owner of Summer Wind Farm, and Stephanie Hronis, HRWS executive committee member and Thoroughbred owner, about the full-circle journey of the Thoroughbred will close out the day’s program.
“As we look to continue expanding the HRWS reach, it’s exciting to bring another robust HRWS event to Saratoga, a pillar of horse racing,” said Jodie Vella-Gregory, HRWS Event Logistics Committee Chair. “Thanks to our sponsors and supporters, it will be special to provide high-impact programming to what’s likely going to be a sell-out crowd at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.”

Women working in the backstretch community are invited to a gathering at the Marylou Whitney Pavilion on Monday, July 22, where they can enjoy breakfast, receive a filled tote bag, have the opportunity to win raffle items, and round out the morning listening to a panel of speakers. Anyone wanting to make a contribution to the event can do so separately, through the same link as the event ticket.
