Basketball: Rwanda, Uganda lock horns in FIBA U18 Zone V final

The U18 national basketball teams, both in the boys’ and girls’ categories, will face off with Uganda on Friday, June 14 in the final games of the FIBA AfroBasket U18 Zone 5 qualifiers in Kampala.

On Thursday June 13, the Rwandan teams saw off their Kenyan counterparts in the semifinals to book a place in the final games of the tournament.

In the boys’ category, Rwanda beat Kenya 70-52 while in the girls’ category, Rwanda beat Kenya 65-48 in the semi-finals.

As Rwanda gears up to come up against Uganda, the neighbouring country goes into the game as the favourites, having beaten Rwanda during the preliminary stage of the tournament by 78-49 in the boys’ category and 78-40 in the girls’ category.

Among the players to watch in the final game is Dylan Lebson Kayijuka, a Rwandan point guard who has starred in the previous games with his scoring and rebounding.

On the Ugandan side, Musiime Kagaba, a player who scored 15 points against Rwanda is also one to watch.
