Year-on-year sports betting hike for Kansas in May
Online sports betting revenues in Kansas in May jumped 9.9 per cent year-on-year to US$9.6m.
The increased revenue from May 2023’s $8.7m came from a rise in sports betting wagers to $164.1m, up 42 per cent year-on-year from $115.6m a year ago.
Kansas’ state share in tax collections subsequently rose as well, from $874,385 in May 2023 to $961,175 in the latest period.
However, the month-on-month comparisons with April showed a decline in all three areas.
Revenue and tax collections were down 6.9 per cent, while handle was down 11.7 per cent.
Retail sports betting contributed $8.1m in handle, $155,888 in revenue and $15,589 in tax collections in Kansas in May.
Total revenue in the state was $9.77m.
