Microsoft came out swinging at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024, unveiling a robust lineup of exclusive games that left fans eagerly anticipating the future of the platform. The event, featuring titles from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and third-party partners, aimed to reignite excitement for Xbox after a challenging year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 locks and loads for an October 25th release

Get ready to dive back into the thrilling world of covert ops and global espionage, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gears up for an explosive launch on October 25. Developed by the seasoned duo of Treyarch and Raven Software, this latest installment in the blockbuster franchise promises a gripping campaign set in the early ’90s, picking up after the events of Black Ops Cold War and even featuring flashbacks to Black Ops 2. With immersive spy missions that span Southern Europe, the Russian Tundra, the US, and the Middle Eastern desert, along with a robust multiplayer mode boasting 16 new maps at launch and a fresh zombies experience, Black Ops 6 is poised to be a day-one hit on Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

Mediaeval Mayhem: Doom Slayer goes Fantasy in the dark ages

The show’s biggest surprises were Doom: The Dark Ages and Gears of War: E-Day. Doom: The Dark Ages transplants the iconic shooter into a mediaeval fantasy setting, arming the Doom Slayer with a shotgun, chainsaw shield, and a robotic dragon mount.

Meanwhile, Gears of War: E-Day takes players back to the fateful Emergence Day when the Locust Horde first attacked, 14 years before the original game.


Stealth, whips, and magic: The return of Perfect Dark, Indiana Jones, and Fable

Xbox also showcased impressive gameplay debuts for several highly-anticipated titles. The Perfect Dark reboot by The Initiative blends stealth, parkour, and first-person action, while MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle delivers classic Indy adventure. Playground Games’ new Fable entry, slated for 2025, promises a magical world filled with humor and heroics.

Starfield expands and surprises

Bethesda’s presence was felt with an enigmatic teaser for Starfield’s 2024 expansion, Shattered Space, and a surprise content update for the base game dropping immediately after the show.
