Tennis, ATP – Roland-Garros 2024: Alcaraz lifts the trophy against Zverev

Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, won the Roland-Garros trophy by defeating German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 at Roland-Garros in Paris on Sunday.

Ahead of his victory, Alcaraz, ranked No 3, beat American lucky loser J.J. Wolf (6-1, 6-2, 6-1), Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong (6-3, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2), American Sebastian Korda, the No 27 seed (6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-3), Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 21 seed (6-3, 6-3, 6-1), Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 9 seed (6-3, 7-6 (3), 6-4) and Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed (2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3).

Zverev, ranked No 4, beat Spaniard Rafael Nadal (6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-3), Belgian David Goffin (7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-2), Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 26 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3)), Dane Holger Rune, the No 13 seed (4-6, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-2), Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 11 seed (6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-4) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 7 seed (2-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
