Newsboy’s nap and racing tips for Sunday’s three meetings including Goodwood

Newsboy’s nap selection for Sunday, June 2, is the Hughie Morrison-trained Haymaker (5.40) at Goodwood. His next best is another runner at the West Sussex track, King Of Conquest (5.05)

TAKE a swing with HAYMAKER (5.40, nap) in the Racehorse Shares From 45 At racingclub.com Handicap at Goodwood on Sunday.

The Hughie Morrison-trained son of Muhaarar found plenty for pressure to get up late in the day when landing an eight-runner handicap at Nottingham over five furlongs 29 days ago.

For that success, he has not been handicapped out of things from a 3lb higher mark and can provide jockey Rob Hornby a welcome win ahead of his ban which is keeping him out of Royal Ascot.

In the preceding race at the West Sussex track, KING OF CONQUEST (5.05, nb) can live up to his name in the Listed William Hill Tapster Stakes.

Goodwood Racecourse, where Newsboy’s nap selection for Sunday, June 9 – Haymaker – runs in the 5.40(PA)

The five-year-old trained by Charlie Appleby produced his best effort of the season when a runner-up in the Aston Park at Newbury 22 days ago, worn down only in the final strides.

On the back of that promising run, he could be ready to return to winning ways back down in grade.
