A day after social media users heaped praise on India-origin software engineer Saurabh Netravalkar for his bowling performance against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Oracle, the tech company in which he works, has responded.

In a post on X, Oracle said that it is proud of the US men’s cricket team and the employee.

“Congrats @USACricket on a historic result! Proud of the team and our very own engineering and cricket star @Saurabh_Netra #T20WorldCup,” Oracle said in a post on X.

How Netravalkar became a “star” overnight
Netravalkar was among the bowling attack in a match against Pakistan and took 2 wickets after conceding only 18 runs in 4 overs. The USA National cricket team, which is playing in the T20 World Cup, for the first time ever, beat Pakistan in Super Over on the back of a thrilling bowling by Netravalkar.

Netravalkar defended a score of 18 runs and took a wicket in the last six deliveries of the match. His bowling restricted Pakistan on a tally of 13 runs, pulling off one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history.

Mumbai-born Netravalkar is “Principal Member of Technical Staff at Oracle, Professional Cricketer”, as per his LinkedIn profile. Oracle said Netravalkar is one of the company’s AI engineers “and a USACricket star.”

Netravalkar was born on October 16, 1991 and has played for India Under-19 team. He was part of Mumbai Cricket Association for 8 years (2007 – 2015), as per his LinkedIn profile and has been the captain of the USA national cricket team since January 2018.
