Women’s basketball welcomes graduate transfer Treadwell – Bellarmine University Athletics

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Coach Chancellor Dugan on Friday announced that a familiar face has joined the Bellarmine University women’s basketball team in graduate transfer Skylar Treadwell, who played the last two seasons at the Knights’ Atlantic Sun Conference counterpart Stetson.

A 6-foot-1 forward, Treadwell played her first two college campaigns at Seton Hall before transferring to Stetson. The native of Martinsburg, West Virginia, has seen action in over 80 college games.

“Skylar has the versatility to play 1-5 and can guard them too,” Dugan said. “She can score at all three levels and is a lockdown defender.”

Treadwell played in 56 games with 35 starts the last two seasons at Stetson. As a senior, she started 19 contests and averaged 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 points and 1.2 assists. She amassed five rebounds or more in 18 games, including an astonishing 21 boards against High Point.

Treadwell scored a season-high 12 points against Webber International, blocked four shots against ASUN foe Queens and dished out four assists against conference champion FGCU. She helped the Hatters go 12-4 in league play and earn the two-seed in the ASUN Tournament.

“I chose Bellarmine because I like the offensive style the team plays and feel my athleticism will be a strong attribute to the system,” Treadwell said. “I was also impressed with the coaches and their experiences that can help me grow and reach my full potential to play beyond college. The players and staff made it feel like home, and family is important to me.

“With my experiences, height, speed and ability to defend all positions, I hope to add my skills, strong work ethic and leadership to the team and build on the foundation that has already been established.”

Treadwell played prep basketball at Saint James School in Hagerstown, Maryland. She completed her career as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,618 points to go with 762 rebounds. As a senior, she averaged 18.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.2 blocks and was named the Herald Mail Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

Treadwell was a four-time Washington County Coaches Association Player of the Year and four-time first-team All-Area selection. In addition, she was an All-Area goalkeeper in soccer and member of the Honor Roll.
