Virginia unveils new UVA Football Operations Center: ‘You see what Virginia football is’

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– As  you walk down the second floor hallway through the new Virginia Operations Center, passing by the team meetings room, you will see an illustration of the Rotunda right in front you.

“I wanted to capture the essence of walking the Lawn,” said Virginia head coach Tony Elliott. “If you’re on one end of the hallway, that’s all you see [the Rotunda]. I wanted it to be lined up to where the door or the tunnel was right in the middle of the hallway and it felt like you were walking down the Lawn.  When you go in the other direction, there’s Cav Man, so now we got the ability to focus on football. The University of Virginia has always prided in itself at being one of the top academic institutions in the country academically, and on Thursday, the Cavaliers unveiled a new state of the art Football Operations Center that demonstrates that UVA is now investing in football – investing in both academics and in football.

“It’s a day of celebration,” said the third-year head coach “and hopefully those that have come through this facility can see two-fold that it’s a commitment from the institution that, ‘Hey, we’re going to invest in football at the University of Virginia at a level that’s competitive with everyone else.”

“I think we all know we’re capable of that and it’s awesome to be part of that,” he continued, “and then as you go through the building, you see what Virginia football is.”
