Orono holds state football championship ring ceremony

The players say they knew as far back as a perfect youth season that they could accomplish something special someday.

Earning the jewelry is a way to remember their achievements on the way to winning the Gold Ball.

“We went through a bunch of different ring designs figuring out what we wanted on the rings and how we wanted to mold the rings into our team and what we all liked. I think, to be honest, we came up with a pretty good design,” said Ashton Duran, senior center.

“It’s amazing. I’ll be able to look back on it 20, 30 years from now and remember all the great memories that we made. The Red Riots defeated Old Orchard Beach, 46-18, for the 8 Man Small School title last fall.
