NL Folk Fest Gets All Clear From NLC to Remove Barriers

The barriers at the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival at Bannerman Park are coming down.

That means adults can roam the entire Main Stage area with a drink in hand.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society applied a few months ago to the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation to eliminate the fencing and barriers around the beer tent. Late Friday afternoon, the NLC agreed to do so.

Julie Vogt, outgoing president of the society, says the NLC did a lot of work on the file as it was new territory for them.

She notes that the wharf at Quidi Vidi, which was transformed into an outdoor beer garden, was their first venture into this type of situation.
