Kedar Jadhav’s announces retirement in Dhoni-esque fashion: ‘From 1500 hrs…consider me retired from all forms of cricket’

India batter Kedar Jadhav on Monday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Taking to his social media, Jadhav – who played under MS Dhoni in the national team and the Chennai Super Kings – made the announcement in a post similar to the former Indian captain’s when he had quit from playing international cricket four years ago.

“Thank you all For your love and support throughout my Career from 1500 hrs. Consider me as retired from all forms of cricket,” wrote Jadhav.

The 39-year-old, who made his international debut for India in November 2014 during an ODI against Sri Lanka at Ranchi, went on to play 73 one-dayers as well as nine T20Is. Jadhav scored 1,389 runs at an average of 42.09 with two centuries and six fifties in ODIs and had another 122 runs from six T20I outings. He was also a handy option for India with the ball and notched 27 wickets in the 50-overs format, bowling right-arm off spin.

Jadhav was part of the India squad that made it to the 2017 Champions Trophy final and the 2019 World Cup semi-final.

Festive offer

A key moment of his ODI career came during the 2017 ODI against England when Jadhav combined alongside the-then India skipper Virat Kohli to stitch together a 200-run stand that saw India recover from 63/4 to chase down 351 in Pune.

He also featured in 93 IPL games for five franchises – Kochi Tuskers, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Chennai, and Sunrisers Hyderabad and had 1196 runs to his name from the same. In 2018, he was part of the CSK squad that lifted the IPL title.

Currently, Jadhav is captaining Kolhapur Tuskers in the Maharashtra Premier League which got underway in Pune on Sunday. It is yet to be known if his announcement on Monday means that he won’t be featuring in the season anymore.
