Bears coach Matt Eberflus reacts after NFL Films make Hard Knocks decision

Chicago Bears’ head coach Matt Eberflus is thrilled at the prospect of featuring his team in the next ‘Hard Knocks’ series – a reflection of the positive vibes flowing through Illinois.

The Bears are set for their moments to be captured on tape this season by HBO and NFL Films cameras. It seems that fans in Chicago are buzzing with excitement, and for Eberflus, it’s not his first feature on the long-established documentary series.

In fact, during his stint as defensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts, he had been part of “Hard Knocks”. It was a challenging 2021 campaign for them as they missed out on the playoffs.

With a current upbeat mood emanating from Soldier Field, courtesy of Caleb Williams, Keenan Allen, and D’Andre Swift, it seems like Eberflus is all pumped up to showcase the best out of Chicago in 2024.

Eberflus said cheerfully about the upcoming spotlight: “Hard Knocks, the big announcement yesterday, I talked to the team about that because I’ve been involved in that before, and I believe NFL Films and HBO do an outstanding job of getting their message out of the team.

“And we’re going to be proud of that message, because I’m proud of these guys, and proud of this organisation. We have a bunch of really good people in the building, not only the football players, but also the support staff… We have guys that love football, that love each other, and respect the game and play it the right way. So we’re excited about getting that going.”

“We have a good thing going here,” Eberflus ultimately said in a message that will thrill Bears fans. “We’ve got a good brotherhood, a good mindset, obviously you guys have heard about our culture and how tight we are as a group, and that showed at the end of last year, it showed through adversity, and that’s going to show again this year.”

Looking back on his aforementioned prior appearance on “Hard Knocks” three years ago, the coach seemed to infer that he felt that the presence of documentary crews proved a positive experience overall. “Yeah, so I was the defensive coordinator at the time (in Indianapolis), and really it’s the same message,” he said.

“We had a real positive attitude about it, and we knew that we had good people in the building, and our message was going to be who we are and how we operated. No one changes how they act, no one changes what they do, we just focus on our job.”

Eberflus added: “And they’re going to have the special interest stories that they do, which I think some of them are pretty good, and we have a lot of them here in this building, so I’m excited to see that.”

Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds also expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “It shows that we got something brewing here. Everybody wants to see what’s going on.”
