RNC’s Attempt to Help Injured Bike Rider Yields Arrest Instead

Some RNC officers attempting to be Good Samaritans ended up being Johnny-on-the-spot Saturday evening.

Officers making the rounds in west end St. John’s pulled over to help a man who had fallen off his bike just after 7 p.m.

While assisting the man, a nearby resident approached police, saying the man in question had just broken into their home.

The suspect attempted to take off on foot, but was taken into custody instead.

The 42-year-old, who police discovered was wanted on an outstanding warrant, is facing charges of break and enter, resisting arrest, possession of property obtained by crime, breach of probation and breach of release order.

He’ll appear in court today.
