Daily horse racing tips

  • EPSOM
    2.00: Teej A 11/2 Each-way (2pts)
    3.10: Emily Upjohn 6/5 (2pts)
    3.45: Bolster 11/2 (1pt)
    4.30: Ylang Ylang 9/4 (1.5pts)
  • CARLISLE
    2.50: Je Ne Sais Quoi 8/1 Each-way (1pt)

Teej A

Tipped Teej A last time out at Chester and she won impressively by over two lengths.

She appealed massively that day due to her value having shown real promise on debut.

Her form on her first race appeared to work out well and she made so much headway on the run-in that it seemed like she just got the hang of things too late.

That wasn’t the case last time out and she bolted home around a course that is similar to Epsom with its sharp track, so has to be a big fancy this weekend.

Emily Upjohn

She’s coming into this after placing well enough in defeat behind Rebel’s Romance at Meydan, but notably her four-year-old career where she placed behind Paddington and beat Westover should be enough to see her go well here.

We know she goes well at this track too having won the Coronation Cup last year, and of course when she placed second by a short head to Tuesday in the 2022 Oaks.

Bolster

Another great each-way play at Epsom with Bolster, though he’s worth siding with as a straight win too.

Trained by Karl Burke in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum who is having a great season with plenty of winners already.

Bolster came back from his winter off having switched from Simon & Ed Crisford, with a huge win at Pontefract while carrying the top weight yet still winning with plenty in hand.

Pierre-Louis Jamin retains the ride and a 5lb rise for that win probably won’t be enough to stop him in this field, with the horse clearly benefitting as a four-year-old and for a new yard.

Ylang Ylang

9/4 heading into a day before The Oaks seems a fairly high price for Ylang Ylang.

But many punters may be put off by the fact she has only been seen over 1m so far and could only manage fifth in the 1000 Guineas.

But that’s a usual route into this kind of Classic and to come just a length off in fifth, is a great sign with the expectation of this filly being something special over further.

It’s always hard to ignore an Aidan O’Brien-trained favourite, with Ryan Moore on board, who is by Frankel and has all the makings of a big winner.

For 9/4 as a price, it’s a must for the value but can also be coupled with an each-way bet on Rubies Are Red, who sailed home at Chester in the Oaks Trial but was just denied by the front running You Got To Me who made all.

Je Ne Sais Quoi

Nice filly that had a busy two-year-old campaign but she should be able to better that having switched to Grant Tuer before going into listed company at Newmarket in November.

She was far back in that race but does seem to suit 5f better than the 6f.

She was ninth of 22 at York in a Class 2 but seems to be better than a Class 4 horse and might finally be able to take the step forward in the ratings in her first run as a three-year-old.
