Updates have been completed to the tennis courts in Walkerton.

There’s new fencing and lighting, and the courts were resurfaced as well. The project also included the addition of three new pickleball courts. The outdoor facility now includes two tennis courts, and three for pickleball.

Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody and other officials gathered at the Walkerton tennis courts Wednesday to mark the official grand opening.

“The tennis/pickleball court rehabilitation was funded through many generous donations made by local service clubs and businesses throughout the fundraising campaign led by the Parks and Recreation Sub-Committee, and proceeds from the sale of the former armoury building,” a release from the municipality of Brockton explains.

Brockton’s Director of Community Services Colleen Gillis says tennis the upgrades to the tennis & pickleball facility in Waklerton will provide opportunities for the community to participate in these increasingly popular sports.

“Tennis and pickleball are a fantastic way for participants of all ages to enjoy getting active and engaging in sport,” she says.
