The NTRA top Thoroughbred polls have fallen into the calm before the storm as the all-important Belmont Stakes (G1) and a long list of important graded stakes, including the Metropolitan Handicap (G1), await June 6-8 at Saratoga Race Course.
Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mystik Dan maintained his spot atop the 3-year-old poll while Saudi Cup (G1) winner Senor Buscador continued to lead the overall poll. Grade 1-winning mare Adare Manor moved up one spot to No. 6 in the overall poll off a May 26 victory in the Santa Margarita Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park.
Week 18 of the 2024 NTRA Top 3-Year-Old Thoroughbred Poll and the NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll conducted by the NTRA covers racing performances through May 27. Voting is conducted by national media.
The 3-Year-Old poll represents horses competing up and through the Triple Crown. The Top Thoroughbred poll represents horses competing for Horse of the Year. The Top Thoroughbred Poll concludes Tuesday, Nov. 5 following the Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
Rankings on both polls are on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-1 basis with first place votes in parentheses, 2024 record and total points.
