Hickory quarterback Brady Stober has received his first two Division I football offers.
The first interest came from Elon University, according to a May 22 post to his account on X, formerly known as Twitter.
A second D1 offer came from Davidson the next day.
Both Elon and Davidson are Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) schools. Elon plays in the Coastal Athletic Association Conference. Davidson is in the Pioneer Football League. Stober already had offers from Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne on the table.
As a junior, Stober led the Red Tornadoes to the 3A state football championship.
Several scholarship offers have been extended to players from Hickory and Bunker Hill in recent weeks.

Willis was the standout running back on last year’s Bears team that won 13 straight games and advanced to the 2A West Region semifinals. Willis piled up 2,324 rushing yards as a junior, ranking him eighth in the state. Willis already had offers from Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne.

A week earlier, Hickory receiver Ellis Chappell received his first offer from Wingate and running back Isaiah Lackey was offered to play at Johnson C. Smith back in April. Lackey’s senior teammate DeShawn Medley signed with Johnson C. Smith earlier this year.
Chappell caught 43 passes for 683 yards last season and added 143 yards on the ground. Lackey chewed up 1,910 yards on the ground and was the only Hickory player to log a rushing, passing and receiving touchdown on the season.
