Daily horse racing tips

  • NEWTON ABBOT
    2.58: Juniper 13/8 (1.5pts)
  • HAMILTON
    3.50: Contacto 5/6 (1.5pts)
  • KEMPTON
    6.42: Cervaro Della Sala 7/4 (1.5pts)
    7.42: War Bride 8/1 Each-way (1pt)

Juniper

This ten-year-old mare has been in great form despite her age, going up 10lb since February.

She beat Whatsdastory by 11 lengths and then followed that up over 3m1f beating Shirocco’s Dream by 17 lengths.

All her last three runs have been under Harry Cobden who gets the mount again.

But her latest behind La Renommee is also encouraging as it was another step up in grade to a Class 2 mares’ chase.

She switched trainers to Anthony Honeyball in October and since then has won twice, pulled up just once and came a decent third.

She’s had 41 days since and drops down to a Class 3 today and has all the makings of a winner today.

Contacto

Victory Shout might have a hard time of things but has shown promise before, placing a close fourth behind Mafnood before winning by nine lengths at Carlisle a month later.

As a result stepped up in grade but came last of 12 in the Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket before disappointing at Newmarket again on seasonal reappearance when stepped up in trip, placing 16 lengths behind the winner Kalpana.

He’s also carrying top weight and will likely find it tough to beat Contacto, the market favourite.

The three-year-old colt stepped up to 1m4f for the first time in April and won by seven lengths.

Upped 9lb for that and showed he can cope with that rise as a placed a close second at Chester earlier this month.

Contacto just got going too late and if he had a better start that could have just saved that extra length needed at the finish to beat Fouroneohfever, so has to be fancied here despite another rise in the weights.

Cervaro Della Sala

This grey filly has consistently been close up in her seven contests so far, but she stands a great chance of finally getting off the mark under Tom Marquand.

The jockey is the eighth different mount to go on board this filly having a different jockey each time she’s run, including William Buick, Jason Hart, Kieran Shoemark, Luke Morris and Billy Loughnane to name a few.

But this grey filly placed second behind State Flag last time at Lingfield over 7f and has been upped to a rating of 72.

But she’s still on 69 for this maiden stakes and even carries 2lb less than Lady Flora who is fairly unexposed, but it’s certainly all to run for for trainers Paul & Oliver Cole.

War Bride

Improved on her two-year-old form with a win at Yarmouth in a fillies handicap.

She had the upper hand in a way carrying just 8-10 but won cosily that suggests her being upped just 2lb will work out well.

But she was being given well over a stone to a horse that was only rated 6lb higher, so could be worth siding with an each-way shot.

War Bride looks set on going well upped in trip to 7f for the first time after she started to get going just a bit too late here over 6f.
