Sabalenka talks about her efforts to play well on clay – Tennis Tonic – News, Predictions, H2H, Live Scores, stats

Aryna Sabalenka recently opened up about her efforts to excel on clay courts, sharing her thoughts on the challenges and her evolving strategy. When asked if she considers herself a clay-court specialist, Sabalenka responded, “I don’t know if I’m becoming a clay-court specialist. I’m trying to do well on clay and it’s tough conditions here, but I really enjoy playing here.”

Sabalenka emphasized her commitment to playing her best regardless of the surface. “You can call me whatever; I just try and play my best tennis every time, whether it’s hard court, clay, or grass. I just try to show my best,” she explained.

Reflecting on the mental aspect of the game, Sabalenka noted the importance of performing well to truly enjoy the sport. “It’s tough to have fun when you’re not playing your best. You have to bring your best tennis, and then you can have fun with it,” she said.

Sabalenka also discussed her tactical use of drop shots, which she had not practiced extensively but has recently integrated into her matches with success. “I don’t practise the drop shots, but I was hoping that I could use it well on the match court. It didn’t start working before, but now it’s started working well—finally, after so many years practicing my touch game,” she revealed.

Against a challenging opponent like Andreeva, Sabalenka highlighted her strategy to mix up her play. “Against someone like Andreeva—a smart player who puts lots of balls back—I just tried to bring different games to make her think a little bit,” she concluded.

Sabalenka’s adaptability and dedication to improving her game on clay courts showcase her determination to succeed in diverse playing conditions.
