Lone Star Park: Heroic Move makes just that in Sexton Mile
Circling half the field in the second turn, Heroic Move
(5-1) got past the rest in the stretch, putting his nose in front with four
strides to go and holding on to win by a neck in the Grade 3, $400,000 Steve Sexton Mile, a two-turn mile Monday at Lone Star Park.

Trained by Robertino Diodoro for owners Arnold Bennewith,
Randy Howg, Lana Wiest, R6 Stables, Gary Kropp and Norman Tremblay, the 4-year-old
Quality Road colt had been 0-for-5 in stakes until this weekend.
Ridden by Harry Hernández, Heroic Move needed most of the
homestretch to get past pacesetter Touchuponastar (4-5), who finished second,
and last year’s victor Frosted Grace (5-2), who was a clear third. Lure Him In
(8-1), Presidential (13-1) and 2022 winner Silver Prospector (9-1) came in
fourth through sixth in that order.
The winning time on the clear, 94-degree night was 1:37.69 on
the fast main track. The early fractions were 24.37, 47.52 and 1:11.74.
Heroic Move, now 15: 4-2-3 with $236,400 in first-place
money Monday and $544,715 in total earnings, paid $13.60, $5.40 and $2.80.
Touchuponastar returned $3.00 and $2.10. Frosted Grace paid $2.10 to show.
