Nostalgic journey told through tennis club’s centenary anniversary book

Blofield Tennis Club has released a commemorative booklet marking a century of community service.

The vibrant, illustrated souvenir relays the club’s intriguing journey, featuring vintage photographs and reminiscences from long-standing members.

Founded in 1924, the club embraced the post-First World War movement of popularising lawn tennis in public parks.

The new book was introduced at the club’s 1920s themed centennial celebration attended by more than 100 guests.

Chairwoman Karen Isbill said: “Striving to stay true to the principles of our pioneering founders, we look forward to opening up the wonderful game of tennis to as many people as possible over the next 100 years.

“With the Wimbledon Championships now in full swing, this is the perfect time to come out to play on our three beautifully maintained lawn courts or two all-weather hard courts.”

The book, titled ‘Blofield Tennis Club Centenary: Our Story so Far, 1924 to 2024’, is an A5 format, 32-pages long with 46 illustrations.

It is on sale for £5 at S&S Mitchell Newsagents in Blofield, copies can also be ordered directly from the club.
