“I am ready for Test cricket”: Avesh Khan

Indian pacer Avesh Khan has sent a clear message to Indian selectors that he is ready for Test cricket. With India‘s upcoming home Test season against Bangladesh and New Zealand, followed by the high-profile Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, Khan is eager to earn a spot in the national Test squad.

Ahead of the 4th T20I against Zimbabwe, BCCI posted a video in which Avesh stated that he previously played the red-ball format at the domestic level and believes he can successfully transition that ability to the international stage.

“I’m eager to play Test cricket, as it’s a format where I can showcase my abilities. I’ve already proven myself at the state, India A, Duleep, and Deodhar trophy levels. There’s a unique enjoyment in Test cricket that I’m anticipating. I relish bowling with the red ball, often delivering 20-25 overs per day for my state team.,” remarked Avesh.a

“Over the course of a season, I can bowl up to 300-350 overs. I’m eagerly awaiting the opportunity to play Test cricket and perform well for my country in the longest format of the game,” he continued.

Avesh also hailed Bumrah as a ‘once in a generation’ bowler and also gave insights about his discussions with Bumrah.

“As Virat bhai quoted Jasprit bhai is a once-in-a-generation talent, a fact we all strongly agree to. While his bowling style and mindset are unique, the key is his exceptional execution, which we all strive to replicate,” stated the 27 year old pacer.

“Whenever I speak with him, he emphasizes the importance of execution. He insists that if you intend to bowl a yorker, it must be a true yorker – not a full toss or half-volley. Similarly, a bouncer should be directed at the batter’s shoulders, while a length ball should target the top of the off stump,” he revealed.

Avesh will be in action in the fourth T20I, as India aim to take the lead in the series against Zimbabwe on July 13th.
