Nothing’s CMF Phone 1 iPhone Challenger Hits Landmark In Record Time

Nothing, the tech company based in London, has just launched its fourth mobile phone, and the first from its affordable CMF sub-brand. It went on sale just a few hours ago, on Friday, July 12. And it’s already selling in record numbers.

Anyway, the record broken is the speed of sales. As the company pointed out in a post on X, it sold 100,000 CMF Phone 1 units in just three hours. The post reads, “CMF Phone 1 makes record breaking sales of 100,000 units in just 3 hours. Last time we achieved this number in 24 hours was with Nothing Phone (2a).”

That previous record was earlier this year, so to hit the same target eight times quicker is a positive sign. Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, said in a statement, “Sales are never the end goal but the result of making great products loved by users – and we couldn’t be more grateful for the market reception and achieving this record-breaking result on the first day of sales. We thank the Nothing community, partners, and investors for all the support thus far and look forward to keeping on making tech fun again!”

Making tech fun is one of Nothing’s key tenets, which the other co-founder, Carl Pei, has mentioned several times. The Nothing products are notable for their transparent cases, though CMF focuses in color and materials in accessible design.

CMF Phone 1 is certainly different, introducing a slick modular design that allows users to swap covers for different colors and finishes, or attach accessories like a lanyard, card holder or stand.

And it’s highly affordable, starting at £209 ($270)—and actually it’s even cheaper right now for Prime Day, just £179.99 ($233) for a limited time only. That’s the price for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version in black, light green or the splendid orange feature.

If you want the one with 256GB storage, it’s £239, which is around $310. That comes in all three colors, too, but there’s no Prime Day reduction. U.K. buyers can get it from nothing.tech.

In the States, Nothing has priced it even more aggressively. It’s not available from carriers but U.S. customers can buy it directly for $199 for the 128GB version.
