Thursday horse racing tips
- NEWMARKET
1.50: Space Legend 9/4 (1pt)
2.25: Whistlejacket 7/4 (1pt)
3.35: Hamish 6/5 (2pts)
4.45: Bold Style 13/2 Each-way (1pt)
Space Legend
Space Legend did well to come second by just a neck to Meydaan in listed company at Goodwood in May but could only finish six lengths behind Calandagan at Royal Ascot’s King Edward VII Stakes.
Ancient Widsom was a Group 1 winner at Doncaster in October but hasn’t quite been up there up in trip since and steps up again by another furlong.
It’s tough to see him winning this convincingly having been well beaten in his two runs this season, especially at 11/10.
Space Legend has been great this season and was beaten while keen in June at Royal Ascot, and even hung right.
There’s more progress to be made for this Wathnan Racing-owned three-year-old who is doing well each step up in trip.
Whistlejacket
The going is soft at Newmarket as of the day before, but it shouldn’t dry up that much, so will still have a little juice in the ground which could benefit the Aidan O’Brien-trained Whistlejacket.
Whistlejacket also stormed clear of Arizona Blaze at the Curragh on soft ground in May who then placed just ahead of him at Royal Ascot.
The step up in trip and softer ground may see this colt go forward once more at a great price.

Hamish
Incredibly consistent longer distance flat runner, who was only just denied by one length to Luxembourg at Epsom in the Coronation Cup.
He beat Al Qareem twice in the previous two runs including here in November over course and distance.
He thrives on a variety of ground and has won seven times in the last ten runs.
And has to be the leading contender despite the shorter odds ahead of the likes of Arrest, Giavellotto and Time Lock.
The former was well beaten by six length to Hamish at Newbury in April.
Bold Style
A great each-way price for this Charlie Appleby-trained star.
He was just second here to Boiling Point in May and has since been gelded which can often spark improvement and settling.
Bold Style beat Space Legend at Chelmsford City comfortably and having tipped that horse to win in the 1.50, Bold Style should be favoured here too returning to a mile, having been dropped to 7f for his only two runs this season.
