Masai Ujiri Says Raptors Discussions With Sasha Vezenkov ‘Should Develop’ Soon

Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri addressed the Sasha Vezenkov situation with the media on Monday. The Raptors acquired Vezenkov from the Sacramento Kings in a trade this offseason.

Ujiri said that he, Raptors GM Bobby Webster, Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic, Vezenkov and his representatives have already talked. 

“I think that should develop in the next few days or we’ll see whether it’s a few months,” Ujiri said. “We acquired a player in a trade and we feel we have communicated well. We communicated well with the agent and the team before. And so we’ll see how that goes.”

Vezenkov reportedly is seeking a return to Greece. The forward has reportedly already agreed to terms with OIympiacos on a new contract. However, the Raptors would first have to waive Vezenkov before he could sign a new contract. Toronto does not seem willing to eat the $6.6 million on Vezenkov’s deal for this season.
