Delaware Park cancels Wednesday card because of heat

Acting upon the recommendation of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission veterinarians and stewards, Delaware Park cancelled the live racing card scheduled for Wednesday because of the excessive heat index forecasted by the National Weather Service to be above 105 degrees for the region.

The entire live racing card scheduled Wednesday will be transferred to Thursday.

Live racing will be conducted on a Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday weekly format for most of the 2024 meet. Friday cards will be added to the schedule on the following dates: Aug. 2, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Sept. 20, Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11. Closing day for the live racing season is Oct. 12. Daily first-race post time is 12:30 p.m. EDT.
