Men’s Golf Releases 2024 Fall Slate – William & Mary Athletics

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.—William & Mary men’s golf coach, Tim Pemberton, announced the fall portion of the Tribe’s 2024-25 schedule on Tuesday.
 
W&M will play in five events this fall, two of which were on last year’s schedule while three others are new to this year’s slate.
 
The Tribe will kick off the new season with the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNC Greensboro on Sept. 8-10. The Champions Course at Bryan Park will play host just as it did last season when the Green and Gold participated, but the event has moved dates, going from late October to the first event of the season.
 
Last year the Tribe posted their best finish of the season at the event, storming back over the final 36 holes with back-to-back rounds of even-par 288, finishing third out of 10 teams.
 
After a week off, Pemberton, who enters his fifth season at the helm of his alma mater, will take his squad to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Invitational on Sept. 21-22 at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
 
A new event for the Tribe in 2024-25, the course at the Naval Academy provides a test, while also ranking highly according to major publications. The track rubs elbows with the likes of Congressional on GolfDigest’s list of the best courses in Maryland, while being ranked 15^th on the list of ‘Best College Courses in America”.
 
W&M will head north to Pennsylvania a week later, tackling Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort for the WVU Nemacolin College Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, hosted by West Virginia. Keeping up the trend of playing top ranked courses throughout their schedule, Mystic Rock, located in Farmington, Pa., has been ranked in the 100 Greatest Public Courses since 2009 by GolfDigest and this year was ranked the 18^th best course in Pennsylvania.
 
After some time off, the Tribe will return to action Oct. 14-15 with their second repeat event from a year ago, the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Although W&M finished 10^th in the tournament last fall, this year’s event will move from Rockville, Md. to Westfield, N.J. and Echo Lake Country Club.
 
Built in 1899, Echo Lake will be sure to provide quite the challenge for players that week, playing 7,116 yards from the back tees designed by the legendary Donald Ross.
 
The Green and Gold will have a quick turnaround to cap off the fall, playing in the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 19-20. The fall finale will mark the second time the Tribe heads to Pennsylvania, with famed Saucon Valley Country Club playing host of the Grace Course in Bethlehem, Pa.
