Former Premier and Galway developer Danny Williams is touting the new recreation facility planned for Galway as not just a win for his development, but for the city and province as a whole.
The new facility, which is still in the planning stages, was announced on Friday by Premier Andrew Furey.
It will include ice surfaces for both hockey and curling.
Williams says the facility will benefit the province in terms of economic development, tourism, health and wellness, and sport and recreation.
He says it adds a “whole new dimension” that the province has never had before. Williams notes that his grandchildren have had to travel out of province for tournaments before, and with this facility the province can bring those events here.
Williams already knows where in Galway it will be located. He says they have 10 acres picked out up past the water tower.
