Tuesday horse racing tips

  • PONTEFRACT
    3.10: Doha 11/4 (1pt)
    3.40: Room Service 5/1 Each-way (1.5pts)
  • BRIGHTON
    5.55: Iffraaj Power 2/1 (1.5pts)

Doha

Really keen on Doha, having tipped her previously but she was beaten by a neck as the odds-on favourite when reappearing on seasonal debut at Haydock in May.

But she was beaten by Never Ending so that form has worked out okay.

Regardless, she went to Royal Ascot and won by a head to Hopeful which really just proved her ability.

Now as a four-year-old she seems to be improving and that step up in class was a big sign that she can continue the rise she made when winning by nine lengths at Windsor last year.

Room Service

This colt has great form lines and yet has still only won twice from his six runs.

But that just means he’s been highly regarded and having been upped 13lb for that Weatherby’s Scientific £300,000 2YO Stakes has done well in listed and group contests this season.

Stepping back in class is likely to see some more of his ability, especially in this kind of a handicap with lots of question marks on a few of his rivals.

Iffraaj Power

Pat Cosgrave rides Iffraaj Power at Brighton and has the chance to add to his impressive tally of wins this season on two years olds having picked up four wins already in just 19 rides.

His overall strike-rate sits at 16% from 110 rides so he’s far outperforming on that basis, and stands a great chance with this favourite.

Brother to Powerful Breeze, who won her first two starts before being denied by a head to Quadrilateral in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile in October 2019, which followed her Group 2 success ahead of Boomer in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

All the right signs on paper for a big run from this debutant.

Tom Lunn’s Profit/Loss

  • P/L from July ’23: +324.92pts
