New Canada Workers Benefit 2024 Payment Coming On July 12
Last Updated On 7 July 2024, 11:10 AM EDT (Toronto Time)
The next quarterly payment for the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit will be sent on July 12, 2024, to help Canada’s lowest-paid workers make their lives more affordable.
Last year eligible single workers and families were entitled to amounts of up to $1,518 and $2,616 over the course of three basic quarterly Canada Workers Benefit payments, depending on their income.
Additionally, based on their annual income, eligible Canadian workers were entitled to a disability supplement of up to $737.
Usually, CRA increases most of the benefit payments and begin sending them in July every year, but ACWB income requirement and payment amount is yet not updated by CRA.
Every July 12, CRA makes an Advanced Canada Workers Benefit payment that is 50% of their entitlement, but it may take up to 10 business days to appear in the linked CRA bank account.
The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is available to individuals and families who work but do not make enough money to meet their ends.
There are two components to the CWB: the basic amount and the disability allowance.
When you submit your income tax return, you are eligible to claim the CWB.
Starting in July 2023, the CWB has been providing advance compensation equivalent to 50% of the CWB in three installments under the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, commonly known as ACWB payments.
CRA will make these payments based on the 2023 tax year. If an individual receives ACWB in 2023, they will receive the advanced payments automatically; they are not required to submit an application again.
If you are a year-round resident of Canada and satisfy all of the following criteria, you are eligible to receive the CWB’s base amount:
Your age is 19 years or more as of December 31, or you live with your spouse, your common-law partner, or your child.
CRA is yet to update income levels for 2023, but below are the income levels below which Canadians were eligible to receive CWB based on 2022 income levels:
Canada (excluding Alberta, Quebec, and Nunavut) |
Quebec | Nunavut | Alberta | |
Family with children | $43,212 | $35,912.95 | $58,932 | $43,952 |

Single without children | $33,015 | $29,072.64 | $58,925 | $33,093 |
Remember, if any of the following conditions apply to you, you are ineligible for CWB:
Students who are full-time (attending more than 13 weeks of the year) are ineligible unless they have an eligible dependent.
Each year, you serve a minimum of 90 days in prison or a similar facility.
Diplomats and their family members, who are officers or servants of another country, work in Canada but are not liable to taxes.
