It was a game, set, match weekend for the Salmon Arm Tennis Club as they hosted the 2024 Tennis BC Interior Team Tennis Championships on Saturday, July 6.
In addition to three local teams, contenders came from Vernon, Kelowna and Lake Country to try for a berth in the Provincials that will be held in Burnaby Aug. 23 to 25.
With team tennis, doubles and individuals compete in individual matches but their scores go to a collective team total, with the first to win four points crowned the winner.
The event, which ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. started with some playing the outdoor courts, before all matches moved inside the Askew’s Tennis Centre as temperatures rose to 32 C amid a heat warning from Environment Canada.
