Ladies night at Chinook Cove Golf Club

Another enjoyable night of ladies golf at Chinook Cove Golf Club near Barriere.

It is that time yet again, ladies’ night at Chinook Cove. Everybody went out on the course with high expectations only to golf what they normally golf. There seems to be a trend going on with our 18 hole golfers. That they all golfed better on their back nines, also known as the non-ladies night round. But, enough chit chat, let’s bring out the wine and get ready for the results!

Hole 1: KP in 3, Flight 1 goes to Karen Peterson. KP in 3, flight 2, went unclaimed tonight.

Hole 2: Long drive, Flight 3 goes to Emma Schilling. Long drive, flight 4, goes to Linda Dunlop.

Hole 3: We painted an accuracy line down Hole 3 and the most accurate lady was Flight 3’s Kristin O’Connor.

Hole 4: There were two ladies that got to a KP on hole 4. Flight 1’s Donna Salle got KP and Flight 3’s Emma Schilling got a KP.

Hole 5: Long putt, split between flights 1 and 2, goes to Flight 1’s Marian Wallace. Long putt, split between flights 3 and 4, goes to Flight 4’s Kayla Mosdell.

Hole 6: Only one lady got a KP on hole 6! Must have been the hardest hole today. That lady was Laurie Hawley.

Hole 7: Two KP in two pins; one goes to Lorie Chambers and the other goes to Debra Westendorp.

Hole 8: A long drive goes to Debra Westendorp.

Hole 9: A long drive, split between flights 1 and 2, goes to Flight 1’s Susan Mitchell. Long putt, split between flights 3-4, goes to Flight 3’s Emma Schilling.

The lady with the least number of putts was Trudy Forsythe with 14. The lady with the most putts was Linda Dunlop with 26.

Now, onto all the pot winners for the night.

Flight 1: Low gross goes to Karen Peterson with a score of 44. Sidenote: After her ladies night round, Karen got a 41 on her back 9 and low net goes to Marian Wallace with a score of 35.5.

Flight 2: Low gross goes to Debra Westendorp with a score of 50 and low net goes to Laurie Hawley with a score of 35.5.

Flight 3: Low gross goes to Anita Hill with a score of 52 and low net goes to Leslie Stirling with a score of 35.5.

Flight 4: Low gross goes to Kayla Mosdell with a score of 61 and second low gross, by retro, goes to Wanada Amos with a score of 62. On her first night out, Flight 3’s Cathy Paul got a birdie on hole 1. Good way to start the game at Chinook!

Golf lingo for this week:

What is a platypus in golf?

[PLAT · I · PUHS] noun. When a player hits their golf ball out of bounds and still manages to make par. As Platypuses are a rare species, the name has been given to this rare event.

Quote of the week: From three-time major champion professional woman’s golfer, Nancy Marie Lopez: “Do your best, one shot at a time and then move on. Remember that golf is just a game.”
