UW, WSU men’s basketball teams agree on deal, extend rivalry two more years

The Apple Cup lives on.

The Washington and Washington State men’s basketball teams announced a two-year agreement to continue their in-state rivalry, which began in 1910.

The Huskies will host the Cougars on Dec. 18 at Alaska Airlines Arena. It will be the 300th meeting between the programs.

During the 2025-26 season, the Apple Cup will be played at Beasley Coliseum.

UW leads WSU 188-111, which is the ninth most-played series in NCAA Division I history.

The Huskies won their last matchup as Pac-12 rivals 74-68 on March 7, which spoiled the Cougars’ chance to win a share of the conference regular-season championship.

However, WSU has dominated the series in recent years while winning seven of the past 10 games.

Both teams underwent drastic offseason changes before Washington heads to the Big Ten and Washington State starts play in the West Coast Conference.

New Husky coach Danny Sprinkle and new Cougar coach David Riley each added 10 newcomers.
