Beyerdynamic’s MMX 300 PRO Gaming Headset Offers Better Audio, Comfort And Repairability
The market for deluxe gaming headsets shows little sign of slowing down with plenty of new models from the likes of Logitech, Audeze and now German brand beyerdynamic.
Today beyerdynamic unveiled its new MMX 300 PRO, the third iteration of the brand’s renowned MMX 300 series. This headset is an all-new, over-the-ear wired gaming headset that uses the same STELLAR.45 driver used in beyerdynamic’s studio headphones.
The MMX 300 series has always been beyerdynamic’s premium gaming headset and offers the same quality of sound found in the brand’s studio headphones used by organizations like the BBC as well as countless recording studios around the world.
The studio-grade, 45mm high-performance STELLAR.45 driver used in the MMX 300 Pro has a powerful bass, clear mids and detailed highs. I know this because I’ve been testing a pair of beyerdynamic’s DT 770 ProX headphones. The precision drivers should ensure that gamers get to hear every in-game sound.
For this latest iteration, beyerdynamic has used a more modern and edgier design featuring bold prints for an elevated aesthetic that will look great when gaming. A professional 10mm electret condenser microphone takes the performance up a notch with clear speech thanks to a wider frequency range and lower noise. This should mean that players and teammates can be heard more clearly.
MMX 300 PRO are still handmade in beyerdynamic’s Heilbronn factory in Germany. The company claims the hand build aspect means the headset prioritizes comfort as well as audio quality. The MMX 300 PRO comes with beyerdynamic’s iconic velour earpads and a padded headband with a fontanelle recess to accommodate the high point of the wearer’s skull.
The solid build is not only designed to last but beyerdynamic says it has used high-quality, lightweight materials with parts that are easily replaced. The comfort aspect means the headset can be worn for long periods without inducing gamer fatigue.
Gaming headsets take a lot of punishment and wear as they are used for lengthy periods and sometimes in active games. The MMX 300 PRO headset is designed for regular use but will eventually require maintenance.
For easy serviceability, as well as adaptation to different consoles and interfaces, the cable with remote and console adapter fits any use case and can be easily replaced. The cable, earpads and headband are all available as spare parts and can be easily replaced by the user.
