Research and data analytics firm Circana has once again disclosed the top 10 most played games across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for the week ending on June 22. Mat Piscatella, the executive director and video game industry advisor at Circana, posted the data on X/Twitter. Fortnite and Call of Duty still top the PlayStation and Xbox charts, while Counter-Strike and Helldivers II remain in the lead on Steam. Elden Ring is back in the console charts, thanks to the release of Shadow of the Erdtree. Valorant’s limited PS5 beta launched earlier in June and took the number-10 spot on the PS5 chart.
You may note that these lists have not changed much from month to month. With the entrenchment of live-service titles, it can be hard for new games to break in. In a follow-up post, Piscatella wrote that this stagnation is “kind of the whole problem at moment. Well, one of them really.” Even the titles that broke into each of these top tens are well-known heavyweights from recent years. The top ten Steam games did not even had any new titles break in. Instead, Elden Ring jumped from fourth to first position on the chart and the previous top three each slid down one spot.
