49ers sign first-round pick Ricky Pearsall to a 4-year, fully-guaranteed contract worth $12.5 million

Breaking news from NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco: The San Francisco 49ers have just secured their first-round pick, Ricky Pearsall, with a significant four-year deal. This a fully guaranteed contract, valued at $12.5 million.

The dollar amount was never in question as the rookie wage scale is preset, thanks to the NFL. It’s also worth noting that first-round contracts are fully guaranteed. It would make sense that contracts linger when an agent and the team can’t agree on offset language. Let’s say, for whatever reason, that Pearsall is released after Year 3. Offset langauge that the sides could discuss would be about how much money the Niners owe Pearsall as opposed to his new team.

There are multiple examples, but the Niners and Pearsall hope it never gets to that, and we’re talking about “should the 49ers pay Pearsall” three years from now after he exceeds expectations.

Now that Pearsall is under contract, the 49ers have signed their entire 2024 draft class.
