49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk Reveals Info On Current Contract Situation
In this video, Aiyuk is Facetiming rookie Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, and Aiyuk didn’t leave much to the imagination, explicitly telling Daniels “they said they don’t want me back.”
Daniels appeared to be watching 49ers film, likely of Aiyuk. Daniels asked Aiyuk what was going on, and Aiyuk dropped the truth bomb.
Both Daniels and Aiyuk played with each other at Arizona State before Daniels transferred to LSU and Aiyuk went to the NFL.
Whether San Francisco trades Aiyuk is still up in the air, but the club’s move in the first round of the NFL Draft, drafting Ricky Pearsall, gives reason to believe that a trade is likely. And with Aiyuk’s recent statement, that belief is even stronger.
In his four seasons with the Niners, Aiyuk has accumulated 269 receptions, 3,931 yards, and 25 touchdowns in an offense with plenty of mouths to feed.
He enjoyed the best season of his career in 2023, catching 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. The 26-year-old notched a Second-Team All-Pro selection for his efforts.
Following the most recent Super Bowl, Aiyuk’s best friend went to social media to dog the 49ers due to Aiyuk’s lack of usage.
However, with Christian McCaffrey, Samuel and George Kittle all needing targets as well, there will be games where Aiyuk isn’t the offensive focal point. When it’s the Super Bowl, especially one in which they lost, his hard feelings are more understandable.
With Brandon Aiyuk looking for his next contract, the 49ers might not be willing to match his value, considering the other assets they have already paid and the ones they will have to pay in the future (such as quarterback Brock Purdy).
